Pom Collins

Sharing is caring!

The original Pom Collins is a mocktail version of the Tom Collins. This spirited version redresses the balance and uses Old Tom gin to make what is essentially a long fruity gin sour. It has the basic Collins ingredients of gin, lime juice (the sour bit), grenadine syrup to offset the sour lime and carbonated water, all served over ice in a tall Collins glass.

The origins of the Collins, like most cocktails, are as hazy and fizzy as the drink itself. There is much debate over whether the drink should be a John or a Tom Collins. For a fascinating explanation of the history of the John/Tom Collins debate dip into Difford’s Guide.

John or Tom or Pom Collins aside, have some fun with this cocktail and don’t treat it too preciously.

Glass: Collins or highball

Ingredients:
  • 60ml Old Tom gin
  • 30ml pomegranate juice
  • 5ml grenadine
  • 5ml freshly squeezed lime juice
  • Soda water
