In 2017 I decided to turn my 9ft by 9ft kitchen into a gin distillery ~ as you do!
What started out as a love of gin, turned into a passion when I realised that it was possible to actually make the stuff at home yourself. Previously I thought that you would need to be a big shot distiller with huge expensive pieces of equipment. Not so as the army of craft distillers springing up all over the place proves.
A visit to a homebrew centre opened my eyes to the possibility that I could make DIY gin and for not much more than the cost of any hobby, such as fishing or knitting. I don’t do either of those by the way.
Not having brewed my own beer before, and therefore having no reason to step foot inside a homebrew centre, I was a complete novice. The centre was like an Aladdin’s cave, full of treasures such as alembic domes and refractometers. A quick chat with a very nice chap soon directed me to the home distilling equipment.
And that was just the beginning…
If you would like to know more about home distilling please read my posts. I am distilling and developing new recipes all the time. Some of the most useful posts I will keep here.
