3 GINstagramers to Follow

Sharing is caring!

Love gin? Love Instagram?

Check out these 3 Ginstagramers for their gintastic photos

Instagram is the most democratic of social media. Instant, well obviously, but responsive, fun, direct and global, rewarding those content creators that post the most creatively with an avalanche of likes and followers.

I picked 3 of my favourite GINstagramers. Creators of tempting cocktails and G&Ts, their styles are quite different but equally bold, dramatic and inspiring. Never has gin in squares looked so well, damn sexy…

Q1. Why choose Instagram?

I think it’s the best platform to show your work to a specific audience, and you’re coming to the right people and fans automatically.

Q2. You have a distinctive style. What do you think makes a good photo/caption?

There are many who do the same thing, so I wanted to stand out from it and have made it my style to take three pictures and do it consistently in my profile. a good photo is if I could capture what I already had in my head as a vision.

Q3. What inspires you?

I’m a passionate gin collector, my private collection currently includes 147 bottles, inspiring me to tingle more of the tastes of each gin with botanicals and creating new G & T combinations over and over again.

Q4. Without giving too many secrets away, do you use a good camera and what would you recommend for newbies?

I use a Canon EOS 1300D for my pictures, the rest of my set up remains a mystery. For newbies I recommend trying out some things, experimenting with all sorts of things until you get the result that you like.

Q5. Favourite cocktail?

My favourite cocktail is the Hendricks, with cucumber and pepper, because with this cocktail began 15 years ago, my love to gin.

Q1.Why choose Instagram?

Well. For me, I didn’t really look for any other options. Instagram is a great platform to share your experiences and to get inspired.

Q2. You have a distinctive style. What do you think makes a good photo/caption?

I’m always aiming for quality content. I want to make sure that if it sounds and looks delicious, it will be. I carefully choose my components, study my gins and tonics and try to make something great out of it. If I like it, I share it.
For my photos, I like to play around with lights and colours to match the cocktail and its components. I’m not a pro but it is fun and I want to keep learning and get better at it.

Q3. What inspires you?

Usually, I find inspiration everywhere from food crafts to cocktails around Instagram/blogs and in books. There are heaps of great cocktail accounts out there and I get amazed pretty much every time I’m scrolling through Instagram.

Q4. Without giving away too many secrets do you use a good camera and what would you recommend for newbies?

I do have an SLR but more often than not I end up using a shot from my phone. Almost all phones these days take wonderful photos and with a few light settings you can end up with almost a perfect shot in just a few minutes. I’d put my money on some good lights before an expensive camera. Although I have so much to learn in this area.

Q5. Favourite cocktail?

Gin & Tonic. That was a no-brainer.

Q1.Why choose Instagram?

As a photographer, Instagram is the ideal platform for sharing my images. Instagram also has a great community of craft cocktail enthusiasts and I love having access to that constant stream of inspiration and information. I’ve learned so much from following bartenders and bloggers.

Q2. You have a distinctive style. What do you think makes a good photo/caption?

I think a good photo is mostly about having good lighting! And a quality camera lens is also helpful. Having a distinct style helps to focus the content of your images and telling a story with your caption will keep people interested and encourage them to engage with you.

Q3. What inspires you?

I find inspiration everywhere, but especially from botanical ingredients. I might see an interesting fruit or spice or flower and suddenly a new recipe idea will pop into my head. I’m always thinking in terms of flavor combinations and garnish potential!

Q4. Without giving away too many secrets do you use a good camera and what would you recommend for newbies?

If you’re serious about photography, and you really want to have control over your images, buy a decent DSLR camera, a fixed lens, like a 50mm, shoot RAW format images, and take a basic Photoshop or Lightroom course online. Good photographs are taken, but great photos are created, and being able to properly edit your images will set you apart. All that said, it is entirely possible to take quality images for Instagram just using your phone and editing them using apps like Facetune, Photoshop Fix, and Tadaa. Use daylight, have an uncluttered background, and try to develop your own personal style.

Q5. Favourite cocktail?

That’s a hard one, I have many! Anything involving gin, typically! 😉 I love a 2:1 martini with a floral-forward gin like Uncle Val’s and a dash or two of orange bitters.
