Christmas Velvet Alexander is one glass of sunshine yellow deliciousness for all the secret Advocaat lovers out there. I love Advocaat and not just in the ubiquitous Snowball (although I love that too!). Advocaat deserves a better reputation than it has.
This seasonal take on the original gin cocktail the Velvet Alexander, created by Simon Difford on October 2011 at the Cabinet Room, London goes some way to boosting the reputation of this custard coloured liqueur.
With the addition of gin and dry sherry, the Christmas Velvet Alexander is one cocktail you might have to wrestle your granny for. Truly this is Christmas in a coupé glass.
- 45ml Advocaat
- 45ml London Dry Gin
- 5ml Fino sherry
- Shake all the ingredients in a shaker with ice.
- Strain into a chilled coupé glass.
- Twist orange zest over the top then discard.
Garnish: Grated nutmeg
